Happy Halloween

So apparently there is an annual Halloween decorating contest that takes place on our street. People started putting up decorations two weeks ago and Spencer has been bugging us ever since to put up our decorations. So Saturday between sessions of conference we put up our meager decorations. We let Spencer be in charge of deciding what went where. When we had finished he was very please with his work and told us that people will say "Whoa, the Bruschke's house look so cool!" Though we're not sure we'll get that response from visitors, we thought you all might like to see what we've been up to. - Note: Still no baby Boots yet!

William Tell Overture

So this is the best YouTube video ever! I got the link from my dad and was able to watch it one time and then it said that it was copyrighted, so I couldn't view or post it the next day when I went to do so. Luckily Brooke and Aaron sent it on to me again, so hopefully it stays around for the rest of you to see it as well. Hope you enjoy as much as I did!

Spencer's Knock, Knock Joke

The other day I was up taking advantage of both of the girls napping and taking a nap myself. I left Spencer down stairs with a movie on and with my cell phone, so he could answer if anyone called. Sure enough, he wakes me and there was someone of the phone. He waited around until I got off the phone and then we talked for a couple of minutes while I layed in bed. He is really into knock-knock jokes right now, so he said "Mom, I have a joke for you." I said ok, thinking it is going to be one of his silly jokes that makes no sense. He said "Knock, Knock". My reply obviously "Who's there?" "Get out of bed!" It was really cute and how could I resist. I did get out of bed and we were able to spend some quality time together before the girls woke up.

Joy School

I had my first day of teaching Joy School today and boy am I tired. It is crazy how fast the time passed (2 1/2 hours) and how much energy 4 year old's have. I don't know how preschool teachers do it! I teach again on Friday and then have a break until after the baby is born. There are 5 kids in our "class" and there is always one that just doesn't want to participate or pay attention. Such is life I guess, but for the most part the kids were awesome and paid attention to what was going on. The "curriculum" we are using is pretty involved, 5 minutes to do that, 10 minutes here, and 2 minutes on this. Kind of crazy. But we are enjoying it and hope that it will help Spencer be a little more open to other adult authority. He kind of struggles with that. So anyway, that is about it, kind of boring. We are getting very anxious for our little boy to arrive, but still see no signs. Crazy with my history of preterm labor, but everyone keeps reminding me that it is a good thing. I just don't know what I will do if I do go the whole 40 weeks. Luckily I am not too uncomfortable, so I might be able to handle it. I guess we will see!

Picking a name for our son. . .

So, we have a little dilema. We FINALLY agree on a name for the little one that is joining our family soon (of course, we haven't decided 100% for sure), but we just found out that one of Brett's "Bruschke" cousins named their son the same thing 19 months ago. This would mean that they would have the same first and last name, just have a different middle name. Would it be wrong for us to go ahead and name our son the same name? We are really torn. Take the poll to the right and let us know what you think.

I've been tagged. . .

So I guess in the blog world, you kind of have the same thing as with emails. Someone sends you a survey filled out with information on them and you are supposed to take that same survey and "tag" other people. Silly stuff, so here goes nothing. . .

Favorite Vacations:
~Camping in South Lake Tahoe
~Driving across the country visiting Church and US History sites
~Lake Powell with the Bruschke’s

Jobs I've Had:
~TLC (after school childcare at a local elementary)
~Temp. Agency (mostly receptionist stuff)
~Great Clips

Favorite Foods:
~Roast, mashed potatoes and gravy (ok, ok, it’s a meal, but one of my favorites)
~Salad
~Ice cream

Places to get away for the weekend:
~The beach
~Friends and families houses
~My bed!

Movies I can watch over and over:
~Really any movie fits this category. I can watch the same movie over and over and still not know the story line. It is always like watching it for the first time. Love it, but hate it.

Guilty Pleasures:
~A nice long, hot bath
~Warm brownies (I think I could eat a whole 9x13 pan by myself, maybe I even have)
~Alone time

Places I've Lived:
~Orange County
~Provo, Utah
~Highland, Utah
~Clearlake, CA

What were the first things you thought of when you met your significant other for the first time?
~Definitely don’t remember. . .way to long ago. I can remember a time before we were dating when I was sitting at his kitchen table and I looked up at him and thought “I am going to marry that boy!” A crazy thought to say the least (wasn’t even interested at the time), but I guess it was the truth.

If in a “jam” with your spouse, what tactics do you use to get out of the “doghouse”?
~ Do I need to do anything? He always comes around. . .j/k
~A back massage does the trick
~Dinner and a clean house always helps

Websites I visit daily:
~MSN games to play Sudoku Quest (still completely addicted to that game)
~Friends blogs
~Google maps (don’t know how I would find my way without it)
~Real estate sites (STILL trying to sell our house in Clearlake. We know we were supposed to buy it for some reason. . .)

Places I’d rather be right now:
~Up in my bed
~On a date with my husband

Who sent this to me?
~Liz Higham

Now I get to pick three other blog buddies to survey:
~Ali Hallstrom
~Kristyn Jackson
~Sarah Baillio

Spencer's Birthday

Spencer's birthday was a lot of fun. We had Sarah and kids over, along with Aunt Liz and Grandpa Bruce. Doug was able to come later on for some leftovers and cake and ice cream. We had homemade pizza (BBQ chicken and chicken and pineapple), salad, and grapes for dinner. Was so yummy! And then of course, lots of presents. Spencer is one loved (i.e. spoiled) boy. He is so excited to tell people that he is now 4 years old and a big boy. He still can't understand why he can't play on a soccer team or go to school though. Just one more year I tell him, but that doesn't seem to help. He wants it all now!
